LOS ANGELES — Southern California Edison (SCE) is reminding customers that they can conveniently pay their electric bills from home using secure online and remote options, while also warning the public to remain vigilant against scams.
As part of its customer outreach, SCE has released an informational video that walks customers through the process of paying bills online from home. The video also highlights how to recognize and avoid scams, offering practical tips to ensure that customers can manage their accounts safely without leaving their homes.

SCE customers can pay their bills through credit cards, debit cards, or digital wallets such as PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, and Google Pay by visiting the official SCE “Pay My Bill” webpage.
Other secure options include one-time payments by phone at 1-800-655-4555, mailing a check or money order, or visiting authorized payment agencies.
Commercial customers may also use ACH or EFT transactions. For those setting up AutoPay, SCE notes that a checking account is required, as digital wallets are not yet supported.
At the same time, the utility company cautions against fraudulent schemes that target customers with bogus payment demands. Scammers have been known to spoof caller ID, send phony barcodes by text, or create fake websites mimicking SCE’s online payment portal.
SCE emphasizes that it will never:
- Demand immediate payment with threats of disconnection.
- Instruct customers to pay using prepaid cards or unauthorized retail barcodes.
- Accept payments over the phone unless initiated through its secure system.
To stay safe, customers are urged to verify that the payment link begins with https://sce.com/, refuse to share sensitive personal or banking information with unsolicited callers, and ask to see proper identification if approached by someone claiming to be an SCE representative in person.
For assistance, customers may call:
- 1-800-655-4555 for billing and general customer service.
- 1-800-950-2356 for payment arrangements or past due accounts.
- 1-800-611-1911 to report outages or emergencies.
- 1-800-352-8580 (TTY) for hearing-impaired customers.
Reports of suspected scams may be filed directly with SCE through its official website or with consumer protection agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission.
