CLIENTS think that their debt problems are so serious. But debt problems can be solved with a bankruptcy fresh start Chapter 7 discharge of all debts while debtor is allowed to keep most if not all of his assets, or reorganization of debt with Chapter 13 where a portion of debt is repaid, or a house is saved from foreclosure. If you lived in Sodom or Gomorrah at the time it was destroyed by God, the God of Moses and Israel, my God, who sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, to us, to die on the cross, by being incarnate through the Blessed Virgin Mary, to redeem us from the consequences of sin so that we may spend eternity with Them in paradise, then you would have had no recourse but to die and go to hell forever. Then, you have a real problem because you would be damned in hell for eternity without any hope of escape. Those of you who think you are so smart that you conclude that there is no God, isn’t it smarter to think that at least if you believed in the one true God and Jesus Christ, our Savior, if you died and found out that your conclusion that there was no God was wrong, then you would not have condemned yourself to hell for eternity because you thought you were smart.
Three angels visited Abraham, God’s hand-picked founder of his chosen nation Israel. They came disguised as men, travelers. Two of them went to Sodom and Gomorrah, to observe the wickedness in those cities. The other visitor, who was actually God, stayed behind. He revealed to Abraham that he was going to destroy the cities because of the evil ways of their people. The inhabitants of the cities practiced all sorts of sexual perversion and sin. Murder, rape, adultery, fornication, sodomy, robbery, you name it; all of the inhabitants did it. The devil reigned in Sodom & Gomorrah. Abraham began to bargain with God to spare the cities if there were good people there. First, Abraham asked if God would spare the cities if 50 good people lived there and God said yes. Abraham kept bargaining down, until God agreed not to destroy Sodom & Gomorrah if even ten good people lived there. Then God departed.
When the two angels arrived at Sodom that evening, Abraham’s nephew, Lot, met them at the city gate because Lot and his family lived in Sodom. He took the two men to his house and fed them. Then a group of men of the city surround Lot’s house and said, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.” By custom, the visitors were under Lot’s protection. Lot was so infected by the wickedness of Sodom that he offered the “village people” his two virgin daughters instead. And you thought the Bible was boring. Furious, the “village people” rushed up to break down the door.
The angels struck the rioters blind! Leading Lot, his wife, and two daughters by the hand, the angels hurried them out of the city. The angels told them that whatever they do, they should not look back, because if they looked back, they would get an “extreme makeover.” Lot’s wife had always wanted an “extreme makeover” after having two daughters so she looked back, whereupon she turned into a pillar of salt! There are pillars of salt in Israel and one of them is named “Lot’s wife’s extreme makeover.”
Lot and his two daughters fled to the tiny village of Zoar. God rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah, killing all of their inhabitants, and destroying all buildings and vegetation. The Bible clearly states that fire and sulfur, or brimstone, rained down “from the Lord out of the heavens.” This means the heavens opened up pouring down burning sulfur on Sodom & Gomorrah, not spewing upward from a volcano. No place to hide.
