Troubled by debt? Seek comfort in Psalm 23

SUFFERING is part of the human condition. Adam and Eve introduced pain and suffering to mankind when they ate of the forbidden fruit. Adam blamed Eve for convincing him to partake of the fruit that would give them the knowledge of good and evil, so the tempter, the devil in paradise said to Eve. Before they ate the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, were doing just great in Paradise. They had a superior kind of physical body that would not age, decay, get old or get sick. Hence, they knew nothing of pain and suffering. They even got to walk with God in Paradise probably every day. But once they bit into the forbidden fruit, they lost their innocence and knew that they were naked. Worse, their bodies transformed from the superior kind of physical body that could not age or decay, into the kind of bodies that we have; the inferior body that gets old, sick and dies; the body that feels pain and suffering.  Adam and Eve blew it, not only for themselves, but for all of their descendants. Unfortunately, you and I, and everyone else in the world that is human, are descendants of Adam and Eve. We are born into this world where we will feel pain and suffering of all kinds. Michael Jackson, the King of pop, was in great pain and suffering, to such extent that it killed him at the age of 50. Steve Jobs the owner of Apple, who had $6 billion to his name, died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56. All the talent and wealth in this world cannot save us from pain and suffering. Only belief in Jesus Christ guarantees eternal life.
I know many clients complain to me that they suffer much because they have too much debt. They have no peace. Their lives are in turmoil.  Are you in need of solace and comfort? Then I refer you to Psalm 23 written by King David. Psalms are poems that are sung by their authors and they give insight to the nature of God. By God, I refer to the one true God, the God of Moses and Israel, my God, who sent his only Son, Jesus, to become the Savior of mankind, made incarnate through the Blessed Virgin Mary.  There are 150 Psalms in the Bible and about 70 were written by King David. It is said that God, the Holy Spirit inspired David to write those Psalms so that we can understand the nature of God. It is the most famous Psalm in history of mankind:
“The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in the green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Wow! What a powerful source of comfort for us who are troubled with pain, suffering and financial distress. I think only King David, inspired by the Holy Spirit; can write with such feeling and wisdom. We can depend on our God to show us the way out of our troubles. This is guaranteed. Even though we have a lot of debt now and cannot pay for these debts, if you call to Him, He will guide you to the right paths. He will bring you away from your troubles, to green pastures, to quiet waters and He will refresh your soul!
In your prayers, you may find that Chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcies is the right path to get out of debt.
