Kaban unveils Boracay resort

BORACAY, Philippines — Kaban Boracay has officially opened its integrated resort in Station 0, featuring upscale accommodations, restaurants, wellness facilities, retail shops, entertainment venues and a PAGCOR-licensed casino.

The grand opening marks a major milestone for Kaban Boracay, the centerpiece of a planned 23-hectare mixed-use development by Golden TW Realty and Development Corp. It follows the property’s September 16 preview and signals its ambition to become a major hospitality and lifestyle destination on the world-famous island.

Kaban President and CEO Kevin Wong said the development is designed to offer visitors more reasons to stay longer, explore new experiences and enjoy Boracay beyond its celebrated beaches.

“Our vision is to create a complete resort experience that brings together the best of Filipino hospitality, world-class dining, wellness, shopping and entertainment. Gaming is just one part of that experience. We want Kaban to become a destination in itself, one that complements Boracay’s natural beauty and gives tourists more reasons to visit and stay longer,” Wong said.

The resort is also expected to provide a boost to the local economy, generating nearly 400 jobs, with about 55 percent of its workforce coming from the Visayas, including 35 percent from Aklan.

Its dining attractions include Chung Dam Korean Casual Dining and Umi Matsu Japanese Restaurant, two established culinary brands that will add to Boracay’s growing food scene.

The grand launch showcased Kaban’s hospitality and entertainment offerings through an evening of music, food and festivities.

Hosted by Nicole Andersson, the celebration opened with traditional dragon and lion dances, followed by a Mardi Gras-inspired procession and a ceremonial button press.

Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco and Wong joined guests in marking the resort’s official opening.

At the Sky Bar, guests enjoyed an exclusive dinner prepared by Chef Gino Lebardo, featuring Filipino-inspired dishes accompanied by a jazz performance from singer Nicole Asensio.

The festivities continued with a fireworks display, raffle draws and performances at the resort’s entertainment venues.

One guest won P1 million in cash and game plays, while the BYD Sealion 6 was unveiled as the grand prize for a raffle scheduled next year.

American Idol Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez headlined the entertainment program, performing her hit single “Tonight.” California-based DJ Lex later took over the Sports Bar for the after-party, while local DJs entertained guests at the pool bar.

Beyond the opening festivities, Kaban’s larger ambition is to help broaden Boracay’s tourism appeal by creating a destination where visitors can dine, shop, relax and enjoy entertainment without leaving the resort complex.

The casino, operated under a PAGCOR license, forms part of this wider hospitality offering, catering to eligible guests looking for additional leisure and entertainment options.

With its grand opening, Kaban Boracay aims to establish a new benchmark for integrated resort hospitality on the island while creating fresh opportunities for local businesses, workers and the tourism industry.
