Officials celebrate new Bread Farm Bakery and Café in Irvine

Irvine City leaders and 99 Ranch Market officials held a “bread-breaking” ceremony and ribbon cutting on Nov. 16 to celebrate the opening of a brand new store, the Bread Farm Bakery and Café.

The Bread Farm Bakery and Café is located inside the 99 Ranch Market on 15333 Culver Drive in Irvine.

It is the first Bread Farm store in Southern California, said Virginia Tan, marketing and PR coordinator at 99 Ranch.

The Bread Farm will offer customers traditional Taiwanese and European bread and pastries but with a modern healthy twist, said Teresa Leung, marketing and PR coordinator at 99 Ranch.

“Other places just offer one or the other but Bread Farm offers much more than that,” Leung said.

The bread and pastries are prepared fresh everyday, said Chef Haruka Lin.

The store is the first endeavor for Chef Lin, who has headed 99 Ranch’s pastry department for the past several years.

Lin was trained in Taiwan and served as a pastry chef at the Grand Hyatt in Taipei prior to joining 99 Ranch.

Assemblyman Don Wagner, whose 68th district includes parts of Irvine, Tustin and Orange, commended the opening of the new store.

“This is going to be a rousing success,” Wagner said.

Wagner presented Chef Lin with a certificate of recognition.

The ceremony included live music, free giveaways and sampling of Bread Farm’s gourmet bread and pastries.
