Sorry, Pres. Trump: Most Americans want the Mueller probe report on the alleged Russian collusion made public

PRESIDENT Donald Trump finally got to deliver his State of the Union Address on Tuesday, February 5, facing the divided and most diverse Congress for the first time in his two-year presidency, after the Democrats won back the leadership in the House of Representatives.

The address was consistent with Trump’s record of embellishing his accomplishments, taking personal credit for gains he did not work on and reporting based on falsehoods and lies to the American people on why he needs taxpayer money for his border wall.

All the while, he continues to threaten to shut down the government again if he does not get his money from Congress or else he will declare a national emergency to circumvent the power of the purse accorded by the Constitution to the House of Representatives.

Without shame, Trump called for an end to investigations against him, just like what President Richard Nixon did before he resigned before facing impeachment because of the Watergate crime.

President Trump and his family, business empire and foundation are facing criminal investigations and lawsuits in the judiciary, particularly in New York.

These suits are aside from the Mueller investigation that has indicted and received guilty pleas from at least six people in the Trump campaign on the alleged conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia to damage Hillary Clinton and help Trump win the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Despite these facts, Trump now calls for an end to what he calls to be “partisan investigation” without regard to the facts in his State of the Union Address.

This may work for his base, especially his blind followers who are insatiable consumers of Fox News and the White House propaganda, but not for most Americans who want to know the TRUTH based on FACTS and EVIDENCE.

According to a new poll conducted by SSRS for CNN, nearly nine in 10 Americans say Robert Mueller’s investigators should produce a full, public report on their findings, a sentiment that crosses party lines.

The study also revealed that even before the conclusion of the Mueller probe, nearly half (48 percent) of Americans think Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with the Russian government to help get Trump elected, while 42 percent say there was no collusion.

An overwhelming majority of Americans (87 percent) say investigators should release a public report, while only 9 percent say that they should not.

This sentiment is true across party lines. According to the study, support for a public release is asked for by eight out of 10 Republicans and those who approve of the way the president is handling his job.

On the other side of the political spectrum, 92 percent among Democrats and those who disapprove of the way Trump is handling his job also want the Mueller report made public.

Among independents, 88 percent say the report should be released.

Quoting more findings:

“Overall support for a public report is about the same as last May, when CNN last asked this question and 84 percent favored a public report. But support has risen among Republicans, from 72 percent in favor then to 80 percent now.

Views on the investigation itself, the President’s handling of it and Mueller’s handling of it, are largely the same as they were in December.

Most disapprove of the way Trump is handling the investigation (56 percent disapprove, 32 percent approve), while Mueller’s ratings tilt narrowly positive (44 percent approve, 41 percent disapprove, 15 percent have no opinion). And about six in 10 say they think the investigation is a serious matter that should be fully investigated, while 37 percent call it an effort to discredit Trump’s presidency.”

With the Democrats now holding the leadership in the House of Representatives, Trump will now witness and understand  the oversight, checks and balances function of co- equal branches as mandated by the Constitution — something that the Republicans failed to do in the past two years.

No one is above the law, not even the President of the United States of America.
