Drowning in debt but too embarrassed to ask for help?

“If your finances are out of control, you need to do something about this situation- the sooner the better.  You don’t need to face debt problems alone.  Help is available but you need to take action.”

One of the things that stop people in finding a solution to their debt problems is the fact that they are just too embarrassed to tell others about their problems especially if it involves something very personal such as their finances. They fear being judged by family, friends and others who might find out about what they are going through.
Oftentimes I meet people who tell me that on the outside, everything looks great so no one has the slightest suspicion about the insurmountable debt problems that they are dealing with. These people often have good jobs, live in nice homes, they drive fancy cars and they own expensive things.  They look financially successful in the eyes of the world.  So what will their friends and family say if they ever found out that they are actually keeping a “secret” that no one knows about?
To them, that will just be too humiliating and they can’t even stand the thought of it.  So they suffer in silence even when the law has a remedy for their situation.
The sad reality is that every day, I see people who have mortgaged their futures and have trapped themselves in a lifetime of debt. The total credit card debt has now surpassed $1 trillion nationwide. Once people realize that they have borrowed more than they can ever repay in their lifetime, they get this sick feeling in their stomach. That’s when reality hits them like a ton of bricks and they know that they can no longer sustain their current lifestyle. Something has to give and changes have to be made quickly in order to turn things around.
At the end of a long day, people buried in debt can’t even get a good night’s sleep because they are worried sick about how their next paycheck will cover all their bills. Their blood pressure goes up as soon as they see the pile of bills on their kitchen table that they haven’t been able to pay. The world thinks that they are financially successful so how can they let anyone down?  They need to keep up with the image that the world has of them and they don’t want to disappoint anyone or to embarrass themselves. So day after day, they continue to live with this “secret” that nobody knows.  Deep inside, it’s driving them crazy and they feel helpless.
If you or someone you know is in this situation just remember that sooner or later, you will need to do something about your debt problems. Your situation may seem hopeless but I guarantee you that it’s not the end of the world. But if you don’t take action, things will only get worse and you will only have yourself to blame. We all make mistakes and if you have made some bad financial decisions in the past that have led you to your present predicament, there is nothing you can do to change the past. But there is something that you can do right now to change your future.
If your finances are out of control, you need to do something about this situation- the sooner the better.  You don’t need to face debt problems alone.  Help is available but you need to take action.
