THE onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda has united our kababayans back home. Using their popularity to gain the public’s attention to help the typhoon victims, numerous Filipino artists have not only just donated money and relief goods, but also their time.
One of these artists is Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin. Aside from her financial donation to the Philippine red Cross, Angel also joined other volunteers in repacking relief goods. She has also confirmed that she donated her vintage car for auction, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle. The entire sale of the car will be donated to the relief efforts of Sagip Kapamilya.
Another fellow Kapamilya Anne Curtis also had a garage sale a few days after the typhoon happened. She sold clothes, bags and accessories, and even ask contributions from her boyfriend Erwin Hessauf and sister Jasmine Curtis.
Just like Anne, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez also had a rummage sale to benefit the typhoon victims. Regine sold off even some of her gowns, and husband Ogie Alcaside donated some of his watches to be sold off.
Actress Andi Eigenmann also announced that she will sell her pre-loved clothing and accessories at a rummage sale on Nov. 23. Even with her busy schedule, taping for her soap Galema and promoting her new movie When the Love is Gone, ansi said that she will be part of a campaign that will pack relief goods and personally distribute them to the children of Tacloban this coming Christmas season.
Kapuso actor Mark Herras, along with other artists have also organized a benefit concert last Nov. 20 entitled Sayaw Pilipinas: Aahon Ang Bayan Ko, Tutulong Ako. Mark, who is the first male winner of the reality-talent show Starstruck, said in an interview with Pep.ph that he wish people would just help instead of criticizing his fellow artists. Those who joined him in the benefit show include Jay-R, Kris Lawrence, Gian Magdangal, Frencheska Farr, Aicelle Santos, Wynwyn Marquez, Enzo Pineda, Dion Ignacio, Yasmien Kurdi, Aljur Abrenica and Jennylyn Mercado.
We all have to do our part to help and share our blessings, whether we are famous or not.
