IN 1973, Rizal Governor Adelina Rodriguez sponsored the first Green Revolution Trade and Exposition Industrial Fair in Pasig. It was highlighted by the nationwide search for Miss Green Revolution, which I was the pageant chairman. The winner of this beauty competition is none other than Rosario Navarro Santos, also known as Charo Santos, who is now the President of ABS-CBN. With this position, she also became the first woman president of in the history of the network. At present, she is in charge of the company’s total business portfolio, taking over interim president Eugenio Lopez II. Santos also is the host of the network’s longest-running drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya.
Madam Charo, who will be 58 years old on Sunday, Oct. 27, heads the list of prominent personalities celebrating their respective birthdays this month. Among them are:

The Filipino-American Association of Foster City will be celebrating its 34th anniversary and installation of officers on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at 6:30pm at Fort McKinley in South San Francisco. Ticket donation is $45 per person. Attire is Filipiniana and/or formal. Dinner buffet is from 7pm to 9pm. Music will be proved by Mirage Band (Henry and Marivic Concepcion and band members).
There will also be a special performance by the Smokey Mountain Dancers from Tondo, Manila. The organization is so proud and excited that these performers have this great opportunity to come to the United States to show their talents. As most of us know, these young people live in the slums, surrounded by trash. These impoverished people have been scavengers, but have been helped and educated to get themselves out of poverty.
