The fruit of our labor is finally sprouting; but they still need to be cultivated.

The Philippines’ very own Vigan made it to the final phase of the New 7 Wonders Cities. However, the “battle of clicks” is not yet over.

To take home the title, Vigan must garner higher votes compared to at least 7 of the other finalists namely Durban, London, Quito, Kuala Lumpur, La Paz, Reykjavik, Barcelona, Perth, Havana, Chicago, Mexico City, Beirut, and Doha.

You will hear the message: “Welcome to New7Wonders Cities, vote now!” then just press one time on your phone the code for your chosen city. The code for Vigan is 14.

Voting will run until December 7, 2014.

Not being biased, Vigan is really worthy of a spot in the New 7 Wonders Cities.

Vigan, located at Luzon’s Ilocos Sur, is one of the few old towns that survived time and history. It is definitely a heritage site to be globally appreciated and continuously taken care of.

Although it was built as early as the 15th Century, the structures, generally made out of bricks, stones, lime, and terracotta, still remain intact.

As what is mentioned in the previous article, “Vigan remarkably reflects the history of the country. It speaks of how the early Filipinos were influenced by their colonizers and their interaction with other races. The fusion of Western style and Oriental design surprisingly makes Vigan a unique city.

“Tourists and locals alike make sure that they have a photo taken on the vintage streets of the city or beside the old-fashioned mode of transportation, the “kalesa”, a playfully colorful or classy one-colored cart pulled by a horse. This just proves that Vigan is picture-perfect.”

Cast your vote, encourage your friends to do the same, and know that you did your share in this battle.
