Virgin America announced that starting January, it will add seasonal flights from Las Vegas to Boston.
From Jan. 8 to April 28 of next year, Virgin will fly four times a week between Boston Logan International Airport and Las Vegas McCarran International Airport.
The airline will also expand its schedule of flights between John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and Las Vegas from seven to nine times a week, which will begin Jan. 5.
The flights are part of a new seasonal strategy that Virgin Airlines is trying—to fly East Coast passengers to warmer locations for travel purposes in the winter months. The airline is also inaugurating similar new seasonal flights between New York and Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
The new route to Las Vegas will include Boston departures on Mondays, Fridays and weekends, and Las Vegas flights to Boston on Thursdays, Fridays and weekends.
The New York expansion will include flights from New York on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and flights from Las Vegas Mondays and Wednesdays, in addition to the current daily service.
Las Vegas was one of Virgin America’s launch cities when the airline began flying in 2007. Virgin is now the eighth busiest carrier at McCarran International, flying from Terminal 3 with around 12 flights a week.
Virgin America is known for its nonstop routes to major US cities like New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as its attention to detail with passenger comfort amenities, customer service, and use of technology.
