Long Beach, California – @China – The 2013 Chinese Food and Culture Festival, hosted by China Central Television (CCTV), California State University Long Beach (CSULB) and International Daily News, will be held at CSULB from April 22 – 25, 2013.
The Opening Ceremony, held on April 22, 2013, will include presentations and remarks by CSULB leadership and Chinese dignitaries. The ceremony will also include Chinese musical performances and a Bian Lian (face-changing) performance. Immediately following the ceremony there will be a Chinese banquet in the University Student Union Ballroom.
Martin Yan and his team of chefs will select the best ingredients and prepare an authentic meal featuring regional Chinese cuisine. The evening will also include live Chinese music.
The event, which is an activity in the @CHINA series, is intended to introduce students to Chinese food culture and local customs. The festival will also feature a contest for local college students to create a promotional plan for the popular Chinese Television documentary series produced by CCTV, “A Bite of China”, to an American audience.
China is a country rich in culinary traditions and this seven-part documentary series offers insights into the geographical, historical and cultural dimensions of what the Chinese people eat while learning about Chinese culture through its cuisine.
The festival presents an opportunity for three participants to win amazing prizes by developing and submitting a marketing plan for promoting A Bite of China to American audiences. Participating CSULB students and community members will learn about Chinese culture and cuisine while showcasing their creativity and marketing skills.
