Actress says work remains her priority as she takes the lead in a Manila stage musical
MANILA — Actress and television host Atasha Muhlach said she has never had a boyfriend and is not currently in a relationship, explaining that her professional commitments remain her priority as she pursues her career in entertainment.
Appearing on GMA Network’s Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on October 12, Muhlach described herself as “Single po. Very, very single.”
Asked whether she had ever had a boyfriend, she replied, “No, I have not.”
Muhlach acknowledged that some people had expressed romantic interest in her. She said she was approachable but made clear to those interested in courting her that she intended to concentrate on her work.
The daughter of actors Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales also discussed her parents’ views on relationships. According to Muhlach, they have encouraged her to make choices that bring her happiness, emphasizing kindness and good character in a prospective partner.
Her remarks came amid speculation in Philippine entertainment media linking her to businessman Jacob Ang, son of San Miguel Corp. chairman Ramon Ang. The two have been photographed together at social and family gatherings, but a romantic relationship has not been publicly confirmed.
In August 2025, Ramon Ang described his son and Muhlach as friends when reporters asked about their relationship. Muhlach’s comments during the October interview were not a specific statement about Jacob Ang.
The actress also discussed her decision to complete her education before pursuing entertainment work full time. She studied business in the United Kingdom and signed with Viva Artists Agency in 2023, fulfilling a commitment she said she had made to her parents.
Muhlach, who previously appeared in a 2011 Philippine production of The Sound of Music, has since pursued television and acting opportunities. She told Abunda that she has supported herself financially through her earnings since beginning work after college.
She currently stars as Annie Batungbakal in Bongga Ka, ’Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical, which opened September 18 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
Featuring songs by the Filipino band Hotdog, the production also stars Sam Concepcion, KD Estrada, Jeff Moses and Anthony Rosaldo. Presented by Newport World Resorts in association with Viva Communications and The Philippine Star, and staged with PETA Plus, the musical is scheduled to run through October 31.
