Actress and Quezon City councilor says there was no feud as longtime professional relationship closes

MANILA — Actress and Quezon City Councilor Aiko Melendez and talent manager Ogie Diaz have ended their management partnership, with both saying the professional separation did not end their friendship.

Melendez announced the change on social media, saying they had decided to pursue different professional directions. She thanked Diaz for their years of working together and later dismissed speculation of a falling-out, saying they remained on good terms.

Diaz separately described the separation as amicable. He said Melendez told him she wanted to devote greater attention to politics and to the direction she planned to take in her public and personal life.

Diaz said his management responsibilities covered Melendez’s entertainment career, not her political work. He also acknowledged that their differing political views may have figured in the decision, while stressing that they continued to respect each other.

Their working relationship predated the written agreement they signed in 2023. Melendez said that by March of that year, Diaz had already been managing her for nearly a year without a formal contract. They signed a management agreement on March 13, 2023.

Melendez continues to work in entertainment while serving as a Quezon City councilor representing the 5th District, after winning another term in the May 2025 elections.

Diaz said he would remain available if Melendez sought his advice. Melendez, meanwhile, said she had recommended another prospective talent to him after their split, underscoring both sides’ account that the professional separation had not become a personal break.
