Former early-2000s onscreen partners are developing a project for longtime followers

MANILA — John Prats and Heart Evangelista are working together on a new project more than two decades after becoming one of Philippine television’s recognizable young pairings of the early 2000s.

The actor-director and Evangelista have separately confirmed the collaboration, although neither has disclosed whether it will be a film, television series or another type of production. Prats said discussions were underway but key details had yet to be finalized.

Cornerstone Studios, the film and television division of Prats’ management company, also released a teaser carrying the tag #JoHeart.

Their reunion follows several appearances together this year. Prats appeared on Evangelista’s Heart World in May, where they discussed their early careers, former relationship and years apart. They later appeared in TJ Monterde’s “Teka Lang” music video and other fashion and social-media projects.

Their onscreen partnership included G-mikTripBerks and the 2003 film My First Romance. Both have publicly described each other as their first loves.

Evangelista said during her Aug. 11 contract renewal with Sparkle GMA Artist Center that reconnecting with Prats had been “healing” and that the project was being developed with longtime supporters in mind.

The collaboration does not necessarily signal a broader acting comeback for Prats. In January, he said he was satisfied concentrating on directing, which has included television productions and concerts for artists such as KZ Tandingan, TJ Monterde, Moira Dela Torre and Yeng Constantino.

Prats said he hoped the reunion project could be completed within the year.
