Los Angeles — The Filipino Ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles joyfully announces the annual Simbang Gabi celebration – a cherished Filipino tradition that brings together our vibrant community in anticipation of the Christmas season.
This year’s Simbang Gabi promises to be spiritually enriching, emphasizing the theme: “Jesus, The Greatest Gift of All, Truly Present in The Eucharist” (“Hesus, Pinakadakilang Regalo sa Lahat, Tunay na Nasa Eukaristiya”). The event will take place on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels located at 555 West Temple Street, Los Angeles. Archbishop José H. Gomez will preside over the Mass, joined by other bishops and priests from the archdiocese.
The San Fernando Region is organizing this year’s event, led by Ben Aranda and Arnel Bailon, and coordinated with Fr. Rodel Balagtas, Priest Liaison of the Filipino Ministry and Pastor of Incarnation Church, Glendale.
As part of Simbang Gabi, there will be a Procession of Parols (Christmas Star Lanterns) representing different parishes and organizations from five pastoral regions within the tri-county Archdiocese (Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara). These parols will be blessed after the Mass and sent forth to continue the celebration of Simbang Gabi in various communities.
We extend a warm invitation to family, parish, and organization to join us in this beautiful Filipino Catholic tradition. Let us come together, prepare our hearts for Christmas, and strengthen our bonds as a community.
