New commercial solar rebate program launching in January 2024

BEGINNING in January, Silicon Valley Power will begin offering a commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) rebate program for customers who install a qualifying PV system over 300 kW. The program is intended to help offset the utility’s peak demand, especially during the summer months.

Key features of the program:

  • Customers investing in eligible PV systems have the flexibility to choose between an up-front rebate of $0.75 per Watt or a quarterly performance-based incentive of $0.30 per kWh paid over a two-year period.
  • To qualify for the program, projects must fall within the range of 300 kW to 1 MW and may not exceed 80 percent of the customer’s annual energy usage.
  • Projects must receive pre-approval on or after January 2, 2024, to be eligible. It’s important to note that projects initiated, or applications submitted before this date will not be considered. Pre-approval is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, emphasizing the importance of early participation.
  • Upon pre-approval, successful applicants will have a six-month window to complete the installation of their PV systems, ensuring a prompt transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy practices.
