Filipino Food Month kicks off in Oregon with ‘six-hands’ dinner

PORTLAND, OR – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, through its attached agencies, the Department of Tourism Office in San Francisco (PDOT-SF) and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Silicon Valley, launched the Filipino Food Month celebration in Oregon on June 27, 2022.

Filipino American chef Carlo Lamagna prepared a six-hands dinner at Magna restaurant in Portland to kick off the Filipino Food Month that will last until July 31, 2022.

Lamagna, recognized as 2021 Food & Wine Magazine Best New Chef, worked with fellow Fil-Am chefs Kevin Balonso and Allie Guevarra to feature popular Filipino fare prepared with fresh local ingredients in a fine-dining setup. Summer sinigang, pandesal with whipped bagoong butter, bistek and brazo de mercedes were highlighted in the Filipino dinner.

The month-long celebration of Filipino cuisine in Oregon aims to promote culinary tourism, entice Filipino Americans and Americans to discover or rediscover Filipino food and culture.

Related activities were coordinated with the assistance of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon (PACCO), Honorary Consul Eric Tadeo and Filipino-American leaders. (PCGSF Release)
