THANKSGIVING is being celebrated differently this year. Because we are in the midst of a pandemic, the usual gathering of loved ones is close to impossible. Some may have lost a loved one or have a family member who is seriously ill. To those who experienced loss, I convey my deepest sympathy. To those who have a family member suffering from this disease, I pray that they recover.
This pandemic has shown to all of us what my clients experience – being away from family and unable to be with them because of their immigration status and sometimes, not being given the chance to say goodbye. It is a humbling period for all of us, but amidst it all, together, there’s still hope and so much to be thankful for.
Thank you to all the front-line workers – the medical professionals, couriers, and service-oriented workers, including nurses and caregivers – most of whom are from immigrant households, for helping the rest of the community be safe and meet their essential needs.
In this coming year, with Joe Biden being declared the winner of the 2020 presidential race, and his promise of a radical departure from Trump’s strict enforcement policies, to a policy focusing on compassion, leniency, and possible amnesty for the approximate 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S., I look forward to assisting eligible applicants in achieving legalization and their American dream, enabling them to be reunited to celebrate with their families in America.
