US First Lady Michelle Obama heads list of January birthday celebrants

MICHELLE Robinson Obama, the First Lady of the United States, heads the list of January birthday celebrants.  She will be celebrating her lucky 50th birthday on Friday, January 17, with her husband, President Barack Obama and their daughters Malia and Natasha.
Mrs. Obama is the First Lady of the United States after former First Lady Laura Bush.  She is a lawyer and writer, prior to becoming the First Lady.
Raised on the south side of Chicago, Mrs. Obama attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School.  When she returned to Chicago, she worked at the law firm of Sidley Austin, where she met her future husband.  Subsequently, she worked as part of the staff of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Throughout 2007 and 2008, she helped campaign for husband’s presidential bid.  She delivered a keynote address at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and spoke for the party’s 2012 convention.   The rise of her husband’s political career made her into a fashion icon and role model for many women, and an advocate for poverty awareness, nutrition and healthy eating.
