MANILA — The Philippine Senate has honored SB19 after the group became the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at Lollapalooza, recognition that has also opened a broader discussion about government support for the country’s creative industries.

The Senate adopted Resolution No. 545 on Monday, Sept. 28, commending Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin for their achievements and contributions to Philippine music. Sen. Bam Aquino, who filed the measure, cited the group’s international reach and its promotion of Filipino music and identity.

SB19 performed an hour-long set on the Allianz Stage at Chicago’s Grant Park on July 30, appearing on the opening day of Lollapalooza 2026. The performance included “DAM,” “GENTO,” “MAPA,” “VISA,” “DUNGKA!” and “CRIMZONE,” as well as the live debut of “LAWLESS.” The group also performed its version of Francis Magalona’s “Mga Kababayan.”

Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan separately sponsored Senate Resolution No. 573, which also commended SB19 for its Lollapalooza appearance and its role in bringing Original Pilipino Music to an international audience.

The Senate recognition comes as Aquino works with SB19 and its company, 1Z Entertainment, on proposed legislation addressing the needs of Filipino artists and other creative professionals. Details of the measure remain under development.

During discussions after the Senate appearance, Josh said creative workers often lack a government sector specifically focused on their concerns, particularly when artists spend extended periods overseas touring and representing Philippine culture.

SB19’s international schedule this year has also included performances at Japan’s Summer Sonic festival in Osaka and Tokyo.
