World No. 20 enters New York with expanding visibility on and off the court

Alexandra Eala heads into the U.S. Open with a profile extending beyond her results on the tennis court, as Nike gives the 21-year-old Filipina prominent placement in its latest tennis apparel marketing and tournament organizers feature her among the players attracting attention in New York.

Nike is showcasing Eala on its U.S. retail page for the NikeCourt Slam women’s tennis dress, where she models the Old Royal and White competition outfit. The placement comes as Eala has risen to World No. 20, a career high, and established herself among the leading young players on the women’s tour.

Her recent Washington title, the first WTA Tour singles championship won by a Filipino, marked another milestone in that progression, although her emergence this season has been broader than any single tournament result.

The U.S. Open is also giving Eala prominent attention ahead of the season’s final Grand Slam.

In an official player feature, tournament organizers described her as “one of the biggest attractions at this year’s US Open.” She has also been selected for the Aug. 27 Stars of the Open exhibition at Arthur Ashe Stadium during Fan Week, joining several other prominent young players.

New York already holds an important place in Eala’s career. She won the U.S. Open girls’ singles championship in 2022 and returned three years later to become the first Filipino player in the Open era to win a Grand Slam main-draw singles match.

This year, she returns not as a junior champion or emerging prospect, but as a top-20 professional carrying greater expectations into one of the sport’s biggest tournaments.
