Actress says the July 13 Makati civil ceremony was kept private because she wanted the occasion to belong to the couple

MANILA — Bea Alonzo says her decision to keep her July wedding to businessman Vincent Co largely out of public view was not intended to create a surprise. She wanted the occasion to remain, at least initially, between the two of them.

Speaking to GMA News reporter Nelson Canlas on Aug. 13, Alonzo said she did not feel compelled to announce the ceremony beforehand.

“I wanted it to be about us and no one else,” she said.

Alonzo said she and Co have since moved in together and described herself as “on cloud nine” as they settle into married life.

The couple married July 13 in a civil ceremony at Makati City Hall officiated by Mayor Nancy Binay. The marriage became public the following day, when Binay confirmed that she had officiated the ceremony. Alonzo later posted black-and-white photographs from the wedding on Instagram, using the single-word caption, “Home.”

The wedding followed a relationship that Alonzo had acknowledged publicly but consistently sought to keep private. She confirmed in August 2025 that she and Co were together, while saying she preferred to limit what she shared about the relationship.

Their names appeared in marriage banns released by St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Manila in March, prompting public attention to possible wedding plans. Neither Alonzo nor Co publicly announced an engagement before the July ceremony.

Co is president of Puregold Price Club Inc. The company’s 2026 preliminary information statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission says Ferdinand Vincent Co has served as Puregold president since 2015.

Alonzo is also preparing for her television return in GMA’s political thriller Whispers From Heaven. The network announced in March that the series will also feature Tom Rodriguez, Maricar Reyes, Jason Abalos, Jake Macapagal and Cassy Legaspi. GMA has described the project as marking Alonzo’s 25th year in the entertainment industry.

Alonzo’s explanation of the wedding is consistent with the position she took when confirming the relationship in August 2025 that she was willing to acknowledge it publicly while keeping its details largely to herself.
