Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano graced the Philippine Nurses Association of Illinois (PNAI) 69th Founding Anniversary and Induction Ceremony at the Four Point by Sheraton Chicago O’Hare. She was accompanied by Cultural Officer Mary Joy Duran-Mortel and Protocol Officer Martyn Asker B. Orcine.
Outgoing PNAI President Dean H. Baron warmly welcomed all guests and honored the occasion by presenting the President’s Awards. Among the recipients was Consul General Diano, who was recognized with the Distinguished Public Service Award for her exceptional public service, compassionate leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Filipino community.
In her remarks, Consul General Diano congratulated the organization’s officers and members for nearly seven decades of dedicated service, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to the nursing profession. She also highlighted the significance of the longstanding relationship between the Philippines and the United States, noting that this year marks the 80th Anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. In recognition of this milestone, the Consul General presented a plaque of recognition to PNAI for its outstanding contributions to the community.
The induction ceremony was led by Consul General Diano, followed by the acceptance speech of newly inducted President Mila Cortes, who expressed her commitment to continuing the legacy of service to the organization.
