MANILA — Vic Sotto and Ice Seguerra may be headed back to the big screen together.
More than 40 years after they first became a beloved onscreen tandem, Sotto and Seguerra are exploring a new movie project being eyed for the holiday season and possible consideration for the Metro Manila Film Festival.
The project has not been announced as an official MMFF entry. Public reporting so far describes it as a planned collaboration with a possible December release window, meaning its festival status will depend on production plans and the MMFF selection process.
The pairing is rich with nostalgia. Seguerra first won over audiences as a child performer on “Eat Bulaga,” where Sotto was already one of the country’s most recognizable comic actors and television personalities. Seguerra became known for quick-witted exchanges, natural charm and the duckwalk that remains part of the show’s pop-culture memory.
Together, they became a familiar presence in family entertainment, appearing in television and film projects that made them favorites across generations.
Seguerra has since built a wider career as a singer-songwriter, actor, director and producer. In recent years, Seguerra has also moved behind the camera, including directing “Eat Bulaga” for part of its monthly programming schedule.
Sotto, meanwhile, returned to the MMFF in 2024 with “The Kingdom,” an action-political drama co-starring Piolo Pascual that showed a different side of the veteran star after years of comedy and fantasy fare.
The possible Sotto-Seguerra reunion remains in development. But for fans who remember their early years together, even the possibility is enough to stir holiday-season anticipation.
