MANILA — Filipino singer and television personality Christian Bautista has spoken candidly about the demands of sustaining a long career, acknowledging that performance anxiety and burnout remain part of his professional life more than two decades after his debut.
At a late March 2026 media event tied to his single “Sa’yo Lamang” (Only Yours), Bautista said the pressures of live performance have not diminished with experience. He cited fatigue, self-doubt, and the unpredictability of live delivery as recurring challenges, even for seasoned artists.
To manage these, Bautista has developed a pre-show routine that includes briefly observing the audience before going onstage to establish a sense of connection. He also pointed to the importance of a stable support system, including his wife, Kat Ramnani, and trusted collaborators.
His remarks align with broader conversations on mental health in the entertainment industry. Fellow performer Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has also spoken about the pressures of live performance. Bautista expressed support, noting that longevity does not eliminate professional challenges.
The release of “Sa’yo Lamang,” under Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, marks a shift in Bautista’s musical direction. Moving away from traditional ballads, he has explored City Pop influences. The track was produced by Ziv, with creative direction from Rico Blanco, reflecting a more experimental approach to sound and production.
Beyond music, Bautista has expanded into artist development as president of NYMA Talent Management, which he co-leads with Ramnani following its 2024 acquisition.
He said balancing performance and executive roles has become central to his long-term strategy, allowing him to approach the industry with both creative and strategic perspective.
“As long as there are people who believe in me,” Bautista said, “tuloy pa rin tayo” (we keep going).
