ROME — Filipino tennis rising star Alex Eala has achieved a new career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 70 as of May 5, 2025, marking a major milestone in her professional journey.
Fresh off a semifinal run at the Miami Open and a strong showing in Madrid, the 19-year-old is set to make her main draw debut at the Italian Open this week.
Eala will face Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in the first round on May 6, with a potential second-round clash against 14th seed Daria Kasatkina.
Her recent success has solidified her status as the highest-ranked Filipina singles player in WTA history and a promising contender heading into the French Open later this month.
