THE Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer and Consul Jed Llona, attended the “Autumn in Motion Fashion Show” fundraiser on September 23, 2023 at the Hill and Valley Club House in Hayward, California.
The fashion show was held as a fundraiser for the Aeta Tribe Foundation and the California Federation of Women’s Clubs. The event was produced by Filipino American events organizer and entrepreneur Yoliesil Pontino, featuring fashion from Filipino-American designer Cristina Malig, Lane Bryant/Luxury Closet by Yoliesil, Debbie Nghiem, and Mindsye by Mischelle.
The Aeta Tribe Foundation (www.aetatribes.org), a 501c3 nonprofit based in California, assists Aetas affected by the Mount Pinatubo eruption in Bataan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales. The foundation has been focusing its efforts in providing potable water and sustainable water sources for Aetas. The organization is currently headed Susan Ramsey, who is the foundation’s president.
During the event, Consul General Ferrer said, “I hope that the Autumn in Motion fashion show could inspire support for Filipino and Filipino American fashion, not only for its aesthetic appeal and cultural significance, but also for the sustainable livelihood that could be created for Filipino producers, artisans and designers. I also commend the organizers and the Aeta Tribe Foundation for providing assistance to Aetas in the Philippines.”(PCGSF Release)
