POLL RESULT: Bongbong, Leni top Fil-Am votes for VP

After the televised vice presidential debate in the Philippines, The Filipino Channel’s daily newscast “Balitang America” asked its viewers in an online poll: “If the elections were held today, whom would you vote for to be the Philippines’ next vice president”?
The son of the deposed dictator, Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, came out on top among those who voted with 38 percent. Not far behind is Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo (the widow of the late DILG Sec. Jesse Robredo), who got 37 percent.
The presidential front-runner’s running mate Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano placed third with 19 percent, while Sen. Gringo Honasan got one percent. No one among the viewers who voted picked Sen. Antonio Trillanes.
The Fil-Am poll result is close to the latest Pulse Asia Survey commissioned by ABS-CBN, released onApril 12, which shows Marcos leading with 28 percent,  followed by Robredo with 22 percent, who is statistically tied with Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, who got 21 percent.
Cayetano placed fourth with 15 percent, followed by Senators Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan II and Antonio Trillanes IV with five percent and four percent, respectively.
In the presidential race, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has overtaken Sen. Grace Poe’s lead. Duterte got topped 30 percent, while Poe had 25 percent.
The Pulse Asia survey reveals Vice President Jejomar Binay of the United Nationalist Alliance and Liberal Party’s Mar Roxas, are now in a statistically tie at third place with 20 percent and 19 percent, respectively. Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, meanwhile, got 2 percent of the respondents on the latest survey.
