DESCRIPTION:Congresswoman will tour the newly renovated West Campus and visit with students engaged in education advocacy. \n  \nPANORAMA CITY\, Calif. —  St. Genevieve Parish Schools\, a National School of Character serving 1\,100 students from preschool through 12th grade\, will welcome Congresswoman Luz Rivas to its Panorama City campus on Monday\, August 10\, as students begin the 2026–2027 school year. \nCongresswoman Rivas will tour the school’s newly renovated West Campus and visit with students in St. Genevieve’s Leadership and Advocacy class. \nDuring the past year\, students in the class have built a coalition of thought leaders to educate the public about the Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC). The federal initiative could bring billions of dollars in education assistance to California\, helping middle- and low-income families meet their children’s educational needs. DESCRIPTION:The national conference will address voting\, mental health\, public service\, leadership and cultural preservation. \nAURORA\, Colorado — More than 200 Filipino American leaders\, professionals\, students and advocates are expected to gather in Colorado in August for a national conference focused on voting\, mental health\, public service\, leadership development and cultural preservation\, according to the National Federation of Filipino American Associations. \nNaFFAA’s 16th National Empowerment Conference is scheduled for Aug. 14 and 15 at the Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center. Pre-conference activities on Aug. 13 will include registration\, a professional boot camp and an opening reception. \ninfo\nOrganizers said participants are expected from business\, government\, education\, health care\, nonprofit organizations\, media\, entrepreneurship and youth groups. \nThe program will include sessions on voting rights\, immigration\, mental health\, entrepreneurship\, health care\, anti-Asian hate\, Filipino American history and representation in elected office.
