LOS ANGELES – Philippine Consul General Ma. Hellen Barber De La Vega attended the annual Parol (star lantern) Parade/Contest and Christmas Chorale Competition held at the Silverlake Medical Center in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles on December 14.
The 6th Annual Parol Parade and Contest was organized by the Historic Filipinotown Neighborhood Council (HiFi) participated by community members. The winner of the Parol contest will be one (1) of the featured Parols at the start of the “Simbang Gabi” annual tradition mass celebrated at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels on December 15.
The event started with a mass followed by a procession honoring Filipinotown’s Patron Saint San Pedro Calungsod at the Silverlake Medical Center grounds. A choral competition was another highlight of the event.
