Follow the lead

Follow the lead

Filipinos by nature are generous. This is proven by our insistent manner of giving gifts during Christmas, birthdays, weddings, or any other occasion. And yet, we miss the mark of generosity when it comes to those who really need it. Books for the Barrios has continuously carried on the mission for 24 years to provide education to our Filipino children. It is now time for us to follow the lead.

A Fil-Am Voice Reverberates

A Fil-Am Voice Reverberates

"The only thing better than singing is more singing," says Ella Fitzgerald, world-renowned American jazz singer who became world famous for the wide range and rare sweetness of her voice. And Mon David may very well be her male Fil-Am counterpart. Mon David brings distinctly Filipino sensibilities to traditional jazz standards with his God-given musical talent and rich-toned vocal style. Indeed, Mon David is the embodiment of every Fil-Am musician’s dream -- a prolific performer who’s making his way, ‘coming true’ and emerging into the music scene. The Asian Journal MDWK Magazine banners a true Fil-Am wonder by featuring Mon David as its cover story this week.

Iconic

You know talent when you see one, and when you do, it is definitely immortal. Sylvia La Torre exemplifies this adage, starting her career as a legendary and multi-faceted performer at the age of 5. Now in her seventies, Sylvia La Torre still has it in her and continues to be gifted by God with lasting success and happiness. The Asian Journal MDWK Magazine brings you the lasting tale of the Queen of Kundiman in this week’s issue.

Big Heart

Big Heart

There is a reason why we are fascinated with reading stories and watching TV shows and movies about people who have made a difference in the world. It is because somehow we all aspire to do the same. However, we make up excuses that we are unable to do so because we never have enough riches to share, enough time to spend or enough people to support us, pretending to not know that all it takes to make a difference in the world is to have a big heart... and everything else will follow.
