Manila, Philippines — B&M Global Services Manila, Inc., the shared services center of Baker & McKenzie, marks a significant milestone, its 15th anniversary in the country, by investing in a new hub in Bonifacio Global City. As the first knowledge process outsourcing center of its kind, B&M Global Services Manila has been providing international customers with high-value client and internal support functions.
“In the late nineties, there were only a handful of organizations that were outsourcing. Baker & McKenzie, true to its entrepreneurial spirit and global outlook, wanted to strategically introduce efficiencies across its offices. This led the firm in 2000 to venture into the innovative practice of shared services and offshoring, then unchartered waters for a largely conservative industry. Fifteen years later, we now have more than 800 employees in Manila delivering services to our 77 law offices and their clients worldwide,” said Baker & McKenzie Chief Operating Officer Craig Courter.
B&M Global Services Manila was originally established to provide document support services within Asia Pacific. Today, the global support center delivers a wide array of back-end office and client support functions, including network monitoring, finance and billing, talent management, meetings and events administration, software development, technology helpdesk, knowledge management, practice support and creative services. For select clients, B&M Global Services Manila delivers a unique global IP portfolio management service, which remains largely unmatched in the industry.
According to B&M Global Services Manila Executive Director Gabriel Pardo, the company’s success can be attributed to three things: “First, having a singular focus, which is providing what the client specifically needs. Second, always innovating and finding ways to deliver high-value services. Third, having very talented and engaged employees who are experts in producing top-of-line services. Our very first hire in 2000 is still with GSM today having been promoted over the years to a management role. Our success for the past 15 years wouldn’t be possible without these three important factors.”
In line with the anniversary celebration, B&M Global Services Manila opened its new offices at the BGC Corporate Center in Taguig City. The company occupies the eighth to eleventh floors of the building, with current capacity of 780 seats and space for an additional 220. Global executives, key government, industry and media personalities joined the two-day celebration which included an expo that showcased the key services that have brought the company long-term success in the country.
