IT almost seems like the year 2014 was full of love for many showbiz couples. There were a lot of engagement announcements and proposals, as well as weddings. Here are some of the memorable ones:
1. Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero
Theirs was a “you and me against the world” type of love, especially when Heart’s parents were openly against her relationship to an older Chiz Escudero. Supposedly introduced to each other by no less than the feisty Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, the couple stayed strong for two years and finally engaged on August 23. Their wedding is set on Feb. 15, 2015 at Balesin Island Resort in Quezon.
2. Iya Villana and Drew Arellano
They were one of the most admired young couples in Philippine showbiz. In spite of the rigors of their careers including time and intrigues, Iya and Drew were able to sustain their nine-year relationship. Finally in 2013, the two were engaged and tied the knot in January 2014 in Batangas.
3. Isabel Oli and John Prats
Although they’ve only been together for a year, it was easy for actor John Prats to see that Isabel Oli is the girl he wants to be with for the rest of his life. Just last September, the actor proposed through a flash mob in Eastwood Mall through the help of family members and friends. John and Isabel are set to wed next year in Batangas.
4. Chito Miranda and Neri Naig
Although their relationship was tested time and time again, Parokya ni Edgar’s lead vocals Chito Miranda and actress Neri Naig saw it through to prove that love conquers all. After their sex video was leaked online last year, Chito protected and defended Neri and showed the world that nothing can bring them down. Last May, Chito proposed to Neri through the help of his friends in Tagaytay and tied the knot this December.
5. Aiza Seguerra and Liza Dino
Another couple that has proven “love conquers all” is Aiza Seguerra and Liza Dino. Although their unconventional relationship may not be accepted by all, the two jumped hurdles and took criticisms head on. After a year of being together, Aiza proposed to Liza. They tied the knot in a private ceremony here in the Bay Area last December 8. Another celebration is planned next year in Manila for their other colleagues and friends.
6. Bianca Gonzales and JC Intal
Engaged just last March, their wedding was probably the most well kept secret. Bianca and JC tied the knot last Dec. 4, six days earlier than what they originally announced in public. It was no less an intimate and beautiful wedding in the majestic island of El Nido in Palawan.
7. Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones
This couple has been together only a year when they decided to get engaged. Echo and Kim tied the knot on Labor Day, May 1, in Boracay.
8. Karylle and Yael Yuzon
Although Karylle and Yael have dodged questions about their relationship, the latter finally confirmed last February that she will be tying the knot with the Spongecola lead vocalist. They got married last March 21 in Tagaytay.
9. Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera
Many dubbed them as the power couple of showbiz. After of being together for seven years, Dingdong proposed to Marian live in her show where he was a special guest for her birthday last August. The two are set to tie the knot on Dec. 30, at the Immaculate Concepcion Church in Quezon City.
