Zipping Bohol on a bike

Bohol is a piece of art.

Take its roads. To the left, you will see the blue skies and the green trees wonderfully blended; to the right, the heavens and the seas magically meeting in the horizon. All these elements are beautiful fragments of nature. They marry each other – and they make up Bohol.

Not witnessing the whole charm of this province in Central Visayas is such a pity. More especially when it is so much available for viewing in a nutshell.

In a nutshell, meaning: Bohol in just one look from a hundred and fifty feet height and—wait for it—on a bike!

“The Rush,” Chocolate Hills Adventure Park’s bike zip line in Carmen, Bohol, is an adventure to die for. Not literally, though, since it is actually very safe. The body of the bike is harnessed on the metal line over the head and the wheels (minus their rubbers) are clutched on the metal below. The adventure-seeker is also securely harnessed on his/her waist.

Despite all that, many would still chicken out. Well, they are not to blame. Except for the less than an inch metal, nothing else hinders the eyesight to see the bare ground—on which you can picture yourself falling to. Impossible, but that is just how your powerful imaginative mind works.

The fact that finishing the 550 meters round trip trail solely depends on your will power to pedal is a challenge in itself. When cowardice takes over and your legs stubbornly neglect your order to continue biking while you are in the middle of the course… well, good luck to you.

However, once you mustered all the courage to finally take on this exciting adventure, everything else that follows is priceless.

The thousand or so chocolate hills beneath your feet, the infinite sky coupled with moving clouds that seem to be within reach, the wind gently kissing your cheeks – and in between everything, there you are, biking. It is during those minutes that you feel so alive.

The experience is just between you and nature. “I could do this all day,” you might think; until you hear your friends cheering for you. That is when you realize that your intercourse with nature is about to end.

One more round? Ready your 400 pesos and you can go for another meaningful and exciting adventure.

Owned by Camanayon Hill Development Corporation, Chocolate Hills Adventure Park definitely knows how to keep your adrenaline rushing while taking in the beauty of Bohol, the beauty of life.
