Our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of the late comedienne Tia Pusit, who passed away last October 2 at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City due to complications from her kidney illness and aortic aneurysm. She was 66.

Myrna Villanueva in real life, Tia Pusit is the older sister of veteran actress Nova Villa, and was a popular mainstay of the ‘80s sitcom Eh Kasi Babae. Among the more than a dozen movies she acted in were: A Journey Home (2009), Bakit ba Ganyan (Ewan ko nga ba, Darling) (2000), Huwag na Huwag kang Lalapit Darling (1997) and Hulihin si…Nardong Toothpick (1990).

Her last project was TV5’s sitcom Confessions of a Torpe starring Ogie Alcasid, Gelli de Belen and Alice Dixson. She also appeared in ABS-CBN’s Ikaw Lamang; playing Kim Chiu’s nanny.

Tia Pusit had been confined at the hospital for the two or three months. Her four children had been raising funds to pay for the mounting medical bills and surgeries. A single mother, the comedienne single-handedly raised her four children when her husband died 20 years ago.

Nova has shared that her relationship with her sister wasn’t perfect, saying that during Tia Pusit’s early years in showbiz she was there to guide her. In an interview with The Buzz during the wake, Nova said, “Young pa siya sa showbiz, palagi ko siyang pinagsasabihan. Nagkataon naman na she was discovered sa showbiz, magaling naman siyang talaga, sa comedy. Gina-guide ko lang siya.”

Noong ma-reach niya ang kasikatan, parang na-ignore na niya ako. Yun ang tampo ko sa kanya. Yun ang sinasabing may gap daw kami.

She did however, clarified that they never fought and whatever misunderstanding they had in the past was easily forgotten.

Hindi kami nag-aaway, pero kapag nagkikita kami, gagawin niya, there was a time na she embraced me, ‘Ate, sorry…’ sabi niya. She didn’t hear anything from me, because hindi ako palatanim, e.”

Masaya, masaya kami, no problem. Kung anumang problem ang dumating sa buhay niya, ke ito ay pagsubok na malaki, tumatayo siyang mag-isa.

Parang pinu-prove na lang niya sa amin na kaya ko ‘to. At we have a good relationship. “So, ang role ko na this time, everytime I go there [sa ospital], every other day, ako ang nagpapakain sa kanya.

Kapag aalis na ako, nakatingin sa akin, makulamlam ang mata. ‘Love you, Meng, love you.’ ‘Love you, ‘te.’”
