Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto’s star-studded wedding

THOUGH their wedding was simple and not as grand as other celebrities, Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto’s celebration was still, nonetheless, star-studded.  Aside from the fact that the two are co-hosts “Eat Bulaga, the longest running afternoon TV show in the Philippines, both have friends and family in showbiz.

Officiated by Father Jeffrey Quintela, the couple exchanged I do’s in a Catholic wedding at St. James The Great Parish Church in Alabang last Saturday, January 30.

Among the principal sponsors are Vic’s brother Sen. Tito Sotto and co-host Joey de Leon—which comprises their popular trio, TVJ.   TV executive Tony Tuviera President and COO of TAPE, Inc. was also a sponsor.

The entourage was a mix of family and showbiz — or both, with Danica Sotto (Vic’s daughter with actress Dina Bonnevie) and husband, PBA cager Marc Pingris as veil sponsors, while Vic’s son, Oyo and wife Kristine Hermosa were the cord sponsors.

Of course, the whole “dabarkads” were there—from Aldub love team Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza are flower sponsors for the offertory, Ruby Rodriguez as Matron of Honor aand Ryza Mae as one of the flower girls.

Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, one of the bride’s closest friends, took time out from her busy schedule to be a bridesmaid.

Still, no matter how “showbiz” their wedding may seem, the couple’s celebration was meaningful.  Many years Vic and Pauleen had to endure criticisms about their May-December relationship, and many said it wouldn’t last.  Also, the young Pauleen had to deal with Vic’s children from three different women —  Danica and Oyo with actress Dina Bonnevie, Vico with former actress Coney Reyes and Paulina with model Angela Luz.

During the reception, Vic thanked all his children for their respect and acceptance.

“I always say na it was not that easy for all of us na tanggapin ang kung ano man. Pero in this instance, naramdaman ko kung gaano niyo ako nirerespeto,” he said and then added, “ “Hindi lang yung basta na sinasabi na ‘we respect,’ pero naramdaman ko talaga deep in my heart yung respeto niyo sa akin mga anak ko.  And, yung pagmamahal niyo sa akin, damdam na damdam ko talaga.  And alam ko na hindi mahirap mahalin yung aking asawa.

Congratulations and best wishes to Pauleen and Vic!
