John Lloyd celebrates his 30th birthday

BOX-OFFICE King of Philippine Movies John Lloyd Cruz turned 30 last June 24, with two celebrations the weekend before his birthday.

On June 22, Saturday, was the first celebration during an event of a watch brand he is currently endorsing.  He was joined by a number of his closest friends in showbiz.

But the main celebration was on Sunday, June 23, where he was given a party by his girlfriend, actress Angelica Panganiban at the Le Pavillion along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City.

The private party was personally handled by Angelica, and was attended by friends, family and colleagues of John.  International singer Charice Pempengco and Aiza Seguerra even graced the party with song numbers.

In an interview with TV Patrol, John Lloyd expressed his gratitude for all the blessings he has received.  “I’m in a very good place, wala na along mahihiling pa sa personal kong buhay,” he said and added, “People can say what they want to say, but in truth I’m very blessed and I have my family, I have a very big support system.”

TV host and presidential sister Kris Aquino and ex-husband PBA cager James Yap have finally pushed their differences aside (maybe at the moment) and have agreed about the visitation rights with their son, Bimby.

Last July 1, at the Makati Regional Trial Court presided by Judge Cristina J. Sulit, the ex-couple and their lawyers were able to find a middle ground to work on.  James can now see their son during Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.  The venue for visitation still has to be decided on, since Kris has filed a Permanent Protection Order against James.

In spite of the negative statements made by Kris prior to the hearing, James prefers not to dwell on it any further.  He is, after all, happy with his current girlfriend — an Italian named “Michaela.”  It can be remembered that a few weeks ago, James posted on Instagram a photo of him and his girlfriend.

Young actress Kim Chiu has been going through a rough time lately.  After the death of her mother, Louella Yap, last June 23 due to aneurysm, she is now hounded by critics accusing her of being a neglectful and unfit daughter.

The accusations started from a blog site which claimed that Kim knew her mother was sick but failed to visit her, and helped financially only once. This was even fueled more controversy when the young actress had to leave immediately during her mother’s wake to fulfill her obligations as an artist.

Kim’s older sister, Lakam, agreed to be interviewed by The Buzz last June 30 and defended her, saying that “bashers” can’t be pleased. “Konting respeto. Ito nag nagluluksa nag kami dahil sa nanay naming tapos jina-judge pa siya ng bang tao.

Actor Xian Lim, Kim’s onscreen partner, also came in defense of the young actress.  “Sana respeto lang towards Kim and her family.  It’s not helping Kim in any way,”  he said.
