Claudine Barretto: Battered wife or best actress?

THE drama in Claudine Barretto’s life continues—and lately it has become more controversial.   A week after people thought the actress and her estranged husband actor Raymart Santiago have decided to have a ceasefire for the sake of their children; Claudine dropped a “bomb” that made tongues wagging once again.

Just last July 18, Claudine had photo shoot where she showed her right leg, covered with bruises and what looked like cigarette burns.  One can also see that the actress had faded bruises on her cheeks.   Saying that she has accepted that she is a “battered wife,” she did not, however, did not specifically mentioned who hurt her.

The photos were given to the blog site, Fashion Pulis, by the actress’ legal counsel Atty. Ferdinand Topacio.  According to him, Claudine covered her bruises by putting make-up concealers and foundation, to hide it from the public.

On Raymart’s side, he said that Claudine’s allegations were all lies, and that the bruises were the result to a surgical procedure.   In fact, Raymart’s side sent Pep.ph photos of the actress with her face all bandaged up, with the actor’s family.

“Here is a truthful version of the recent Twitter post of a make-up tutorial to conceal bruises, perhaps even wounds and scars, with the allusion of the subject having been battered.   The wounds and scars are definitely real, but how they were sustained is a different story altogether,” according to the official statement sent to Pep.ph by Raymart’s camp.

Raymart’s side also added that Atty. Topacio’s tweets about the step-by-step procedure on how Claudine conceals her bruises through make-up, was actually photos taken in 2010, before the actress’ live guest appearance on Showbiz Central.

So I guess the supposed “peaceful” agreement between Claudine and Raymart for the sake of their kids last month was all for show.   There is no doubt that more lawsuits are going to follow from both sides.  We just hope that if they are indeed concerned about their children, they settle their differences soon.

Newly married singer/TV host Karylle shared that she has no objections about her mom’s—Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla—relationship with renowned architect Conrad Onglao.  In fact, she only has good words for Conrad.

During an interview at the Yahoo Philippines Celebrity Awards night last July 18 she shared, “Tito Conrad is a nice guy and he’s very sweet.  He’s very thoughtful.  And I love that he cooks well and that’s he’s very big with family.”

Karylle, who is married to Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon just last March, also said that she has no information to share about if (or when) her mom and Tito Conrad are going to get married.  She said that for now, she would rather have them enjoy the relationship they have, like a honeymoon phase.  Of course, if wedding bells are really in order, Karylle said that they will have her full support and will not get in the way.

In another aspect of Karylle’s life, the singer shared that she is happy that she has patched up with her friend and Showtime co-host, comedian Vice Ganda.

The other half of the ViceRylle tandem, their rift started after Vice admitted that Yael didn’t like having him (Vice) as Karylle’s love teammate.

“Ours is a friendship na talagang marami akong natutunan. We have had our ups and we have had our recent down. But iyon talaga yung friendship na masasabi ko na ang dami kong crazy things na natututunan sa kanya,” Karylle said to Yahoo Philippines.
