Celebrating A Year of Worldly Sophistication

Inspired by the magnificent Buddha statues, Raymond Visan of the George V. Eatertainment Group, envisioned and made into life a haven wherein luxury meets magic. In 1996, the very first BuddhaBar opened in Paris. Since then, the revolutionary lounge birthed franchises all over the globe.

Soon, the air of mystic reached the tropics and made its way to the Philippine shores. Fully owned by Picar Development, a subsidiary of the AMA Group and the developers of Stratford Residences, BuddhaBar Manila launched in early January last year amid the bustling streets of the Metro.

To honor its first year anniversary, BuddhaBar hosted a grand celebration entitled “Red and Black Party” to show its appreciation and gratitude to all its patrons dated February 1, 2013 (Friday). Moreover, the festivities served as a platform for BuddhaBar to showcase all that is in store for the coming year.

Early on during the night, guests were in for a treat with an hour-long Open Bar from 8pm-9pm, cake cutting with red and black balloon drop marks the entertainment with BuddhaBar’s international DJ from Barrio Latino Paris. The crowd had their fix of signature cocktails and drinks, and even had a chance to try out new drink concoctions made only for the special night. Moreover, guests enjoyed a 10 percent discount on all food and beverages. Also, BuddhaBar Manila got Thomas Johansson known as Nevisoul, the number one poi dancer in the world to perform live at the BuddhaBar terrace.

A signature mark among George V. Eatertainment bars is that it produces its own music through the talents of its enigmatic DJs. To serve as the event’s highlight, BuddhaBar brought in DJ Carlos Campos of Barrio Latino Paris.

Chileborn DJ Carlos moved to Paris in an early age and pursued the art of music and dance. Through his fiery sense of expression and sheer soul, he quickly emerged in the dance music industry. His vision and cointerpretation of Lorca’s hit, Ritmo de La Noche became his ticket to fame.

In 1999, he became the first resident DJ at Barrio LatinoParis of the BuddhaBar Group. His works include tracks on the compilations BuddhaBar Nirvana Lounge, Opium Miami, Reggaeton on Fire, Barrio Latino compilation, and a solo album entitled Tribal Works Vol. 1.

As the night reached its climax, DJ Carlos showed guests why Latino music, for him, is considered to be the hottest music there is — inflaming and igniting the Manila crowd with exotic Latin grooves, heart-pumping drum and bass, and sensual afrobeats.

BuddhaBar’s philosophy lies in the harmonious balance of luxury and comfort, refinement with pleasure, and of mystic and wonder. The entire night elegantly served as a testament of what BuddhaBar has to offer in the years to come.

To date, BuddhaBar boasts of its carefullycrafted and mindful promotions, such as Business Lunch set menus offered from Monday to Friday, from 12:00-2:30pm, and priced at P895 net. The meals are served per dish separately, beginning with a starter, main course (a choice among five varieties), dessert, and served with BuddhaBar’s signature Iced Tea.

From February 112, in commemoration of the Chinese New Year, the kitchen offers the Dimsum Feast priced at P2,500. The set meal is good for 46 persons and comes with as the Pork and Shrimp Tai Pao, Assorted Dumplings, Assorted Appetizers, Fried Delights, and Fried Sesame Balls.

For the month of love, a Valentine’s Day set menu for dinner will be available from February 1316. The dinner is served with a glass of wine, Amuse Bouche, Verte Soupe, Citrus Salad Mesclun of Rocket and Grapefruit, Sushi Creation, a choice between the Grilled Marinated Angus Ribeye or Duo of Black Cod and Tiger Prawns, and Cerise Chocolat Fondant for dessert. The couple will receive a box of assorted macaroons. Also available for the season is the limited edition heart-shaped chocolate sesame bars.

Guests are also invited to try the Chef’s Special dishes, served ala carte. Find eastern delights such as the Oriental Roast Duck with Apple and Plum Sauce, Braised Angus Beef Pie, Thai Style Tiger Prawns in Mung Bean Noodles, Eastern Flavored Grilled Beef Tenderloin, and the Kailan Wrapped LapuLapu.
