Boy Abunda and Jonas Gaffud launch books in Southern California

TWO heads are better than one — but three would make the best combo in promoting self-development and perseverance.  Celebrity aesthetician and known leader in face and body treatment Olivia Quido-Co (aka Ms. O), owner of O Skin Med Spa, opened her clinic to host the book launch of two of the most influential personalities in the entertainment industry.

Asia’s King of Talk Boy Abunda and Beauty Queen-Maker Jonas Gaffud picked the perfect venue to promote their books.

I’ve known Olivia to be very warm, hospitable and always willing to give back to the community. She is loved especially by her staff and her endorsers. Boy Abunda, being one of her endorsers talked about his book saying, “I am a work-in-progress, but I am living my dream… I’d like to be able to do more, be able to teach, write more books…”

His book, “It’s Like This: 100+ Abundable Thoughts that will make you think and rethink what you’ve always thought about your life” contains nuggets of wisdom, quotes and life-affirming essays. It highlights significant lessons from Abunda as he shares his life filled with love and abundance. The book is now available in TFC stands and bookstores.

Another Filipino author and known beauty pageant trainer who wanted to make a difference through his written word is Jonas Gaffud.  He has produced a Miss World, a Miss International, and a Miss Universe for the Philippines over his 16 years of training women. His book entitled “The Crown: Your Essential Guide to Becoming a Beauty Queen” talks about how he trained beautiful ladies all these years (and their stories as well).

Lion Heart TV writes, “The Crown will prove essential to both pageant aspirants and keen spectators, with its discussions on competitions’ crucial matters such as dealing with the height problem, question and answer tricks, and sashaying in heels 101. It also provides the Aces and Queens checklist and tons of tips on preparing for the big event.”

2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and 2013 Miss Universe Third Runner Up Ariella Arida, both Gaffud’s protégés, were also present during the launch to show their support to their trainer. They are also loyal clients of O Skin. Many Filipinos came to meet their beauty queen-idols and grabbed the chance to ask questions and take pictures.

It was a fun and rewarding experience for the fans and our kababayans who drove to Cerritos, and stand in line (that reached all the way to the mall entrance) to be able to see their favorite celebrities.  It is very thoughtful of Olivia to host these kinds of events. She wanted to do more of this so that Filipinos could get a chance to meet their idols – something they rarely get to do.

Both book launches proved to be a successful event. These are very timely books that are packed with practical wisdom, made not only for women but for anybody who dares to dream and are determined to achieve them. Much like Olivia who is one of the most determined, God-fearing and kind-hearted people I know.

Olivia started small by renting a tiny room to practice skin treatments. That was in 2003. Today, she presides over two thriving, full-service O Skin Med Spa locations in the LA area. She’s proud to say her practice has proudly served literally thousands of happy, extremely satisfied clients including A-List Hollywood celebrities like Grammy Award winner Patti Austin and Telma Hopkins. Her spas have become the go-to skin care resource for renowned photographers and makeup artists, as well as Filipino celebrities, Ai-ai delas Alas, Richard Gutierrez, Ruffa Gutierrez and many more. She also has TV beauty segment in “Adobo Nation” called, “Beauty by Ms. O.” It is featured every Sunday at 6:45pm through Kapamilya TFC.

Last Thanksgiving, she had a mega sale and her beauty products sold out like pancakes – a proof that she has not only earned her clients’ trust, but the product really speaks for itself.

I’ve known Olivia and her family for a while and I am inspired by how much God has blessed her for being passionate, generous and willing to give back to the Filipino-American community.

Olivia is married to her equally talented husband, Jason Co, who is very supportive and a loving father to their beautiful children namely, Faith (8), Timothy (6), and twins, Toby and Julia (3).

To Boy Abunda and Jonas Gaffud: Congratulations on your respective books!  And to my dear friend Olivia, I am very proud of you. I wish you all the best in your business and personal life. May you continue to be the way you are because good people like you make this world so beautiful.
