IT is best said by a former client of our firm: "Dear Mr. Wilner. I just wanted to follow up and thank you again for obtaining the Permanent Residency Card for my wife. When we had all but given up, you persevered and did not give up. It was by your continuing to believe in us and never quitting that my wife is now approved. Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) is on the horizon once again. And, while the protests of the recent past have subsided, they are likely to resurface again. That, coupled with unscrupulous providers of immigration law advice, including but not limited to attorneys from the Philippines working at local immigration firms and moonlighting as lawyers on the side, make it even more important to have competent legal counsel. In this continued time of hysteria, you must have someone that knows what they are doing so that your hopes can become your realities.

Do not become complacent because CIR is on the horizon. Continue to pursue and all forms of legal relief possible. If a purported immigration lawyer is telling you something that sounds too good to be true. Guess what? It is. If a lawyer refuses to explain her strategy to you because it is their "magic", run out of their office; don’t walk.

To not hire someone to pursue relief that is unavailable at this time. To "open up a file" to purse a non-existent CIR related application is a waste of your time and hard-earned money. A credible lawyer will tell you that. To be cliché, you get what you pay for. And, if you are trying to save money on one of the most important decisions of your life to hire a paralegal that is working illegally, you will suffer on account of it. For example, several people have hired us who have all been victimized by the same paralegal who works at a local immigration firm. And, this paralegal/attorney in the Philippines has been reported to the Attorney General’s office on account of it.

If you are TNT or an employer of TNT’s, of course, you should be concerned. Your concern, however, should not result in your going into hiding because if it does, chances are you will not achieve the benefit you have hoped for all this time. Your concern should result in your trying to deal with the issues head-on. Find credible solutions to your problems. Doing the same thing undetected is not a solution.
