‘Third Eye’ to return for a second season as ‘Cassandra: Warrior Angel’

From encountering all kinds of evil creatures (“malignos”), the young girl blessed or cursed with a “third eye” will now find herself in an expanded supernatural universe and in the middle of an epic battle between angels and demons.
Cassandra: Warrior Angel, the much-awaited second season of TV5′s Third Eye, introduces its audience to a more complex story of Biblical proportions as it delves further into Cassandra’s life. Viewers will finally get to know her mysterious parents, played by seasoned actors Gabby Concepcion and Eula Valdez.
The expansion of the series, now helmed by veteran directors Eric Quizon, Argel Joseph and Benedict Mique, does not end with new characters and an all-new environment. The creative team of TV5 is confident that the solid following established by the original show in its Sunday night time slot will further grow as it becomes a daily primetime fantaserye.
“Na-excite kami sa show na ito kasi kami lang yata ang fantaserye na may gitna. Meron na kaming ginawang prequel na napakalalim with Third Eye and now, meron na rin kaming ginawang story na napakalaki,” TV5 head of creative and entertainment production Perci Intalan told InterAksyon.
For her part, no one is more pleased with the direction of the project than lead star and TV5 princess Eula Caballero.
“Masayang-masaya ako kasi ang tagal ko ding inantay ito. Na-delay ng na-delay pero I’m glad na nandito na rin at lalo pang pinaganda. Sobrang laki ng paghahanda sa project na ito, but at the same time, I hope na ‘yung pagiging malaki niya, ma-extend din sa development ng mga characters namin,” Eula candidly exclaimed.
With an extended cast that also includes seasoned veterans like Pen Medina, William Martinez, Mercedes Cabral, Art Acuña, Biboy Ramirez and Vangie Labalan as well as rising young stars like JC de Vera, Alwyn Uytingco, Albie Casiño, Morrissette Amon, Rocky Salumbides and Joaqui Tupaz plus returning Third Eye mainstays Daniel Matsunaga and Victor Silayan, the series promises to be an exciting fare to watch when it starts airing this May.
Preparations on the part of the actors for their respective characters are just as elaborate as the development of the script. Aside from a bonding workshop with noted acting coach and former actress Beverly Vergel, most of the lead characters are also scheduled to undergo training in martial arts and Muay Thai to prepare for their battle scenes.
“Nung nagkukumustahan nga kami ni Daniel, lagi ko syang binibiro at tinatanong kung bakit hindi sya uma-attend ng mga training namin. ‘I know how to fight already since I do capoeira,’ sabi naman niya,” Eula revealed.

Capoeira is a form of martial arts that originated in Brazil, Matsunaga’s home country.
The young actress is also proud of the fact that working on Third Eye has been a very rewarding experience for her as the show established a sizeable fan base, especially among young kids.
“When I was taping for Enchanted Garden, may mga batang sumisigaw ng either, ‘Si Cassandraaa!!!!’ or ‘Ay, si Third Eye so nakakatuwa at nakakataba ng puso yun para sa isang artista na katulad ko,” Eula enthused.
While Eula admits that she will miss working with Third Eye mainstays Eddie Garcia and Lorna Tolentino, she said she’s looking forward to working and learning from the new batch of tried and tested actors that will become her extended family in the months to come.
“I hope with the new series, mas marami pang manood at mas lalo pang lumaki ang audience namin,” she mused.
