Stockton, CA- the Associated Filipino Organization of San Joaquin County, Incorporated is proud to announce the 45th Annual Filipino Center Plaza Barrio Fiesta. The festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday August 12 in downtown Stockton, 6 West Main Street at the corner of Center and Market Streets and runs from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Admission is FREE.
Featured at the festival are cultural dancers and singers, Filipino Martial Arts, Filipiniana Fashion Show and bands. Delicious popular food including adobo, lumpia, pancit, dinuguan, and more will be sold by local popular Filipino restaurants. Cold refreshments such as Halo-Halo and shaved ice cones will also be available. Proceeds from the beer and beverage booths will benefit the AFO Scholarship Funds.
There will also be health fair in conjunction with the festival. The health fair is free and open to the public and will provide education on common medical problems. Free blood pressure and balance screenings will be available.
This year’s scholarship recipients are Annamarie Gayla, a graduate of Linden High School and Mariz Kaye B. Albinto, a graduate or Edison High School. Both will be presented scholarship money at the Barrio Fiesta. Also receiving a special recognition award is Nathaniel Galicia Chien, whose tremendous volunteer work at the Computer Learning Center of the Filipino Plaza has made a big difference for its residents.
