Newly-engaged couple Sarah Lahbati and Richard Gutierrez took the good news of Sarah’s pregnancy to social media on Monday, September 18.
In her Instagram account, Sarah posted a picture of herself while holding an Ultrasound result, along with Richard and Zion.
“We are thrilled to announce that our little family is growing. Zion is about to be a kuya!!!!! So excited for the future,” Sarah wrote.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Sarah shared that they delayed the announcement after doctors advised her to have bed rest due to concerns over her baby’s heartbeat.
“Matagal na namin alam pero itinago muna namin kasi nagkaroon ng complications noong una. (We already knew a long time ago [about the pregnancy] but we kept it secret because there were complications at first,)” Sarah said.
“Noong sinabi na ng doctor na okay na okay na ang heartbeat at gumagalaw na, puwede ka na mag-work ulit and go on with your routine, ayon, doon namin pinlanong i-announce. (When the doctor said that the heartbeat is really okay by that time and it’s already moving, you can go back to work and go on with your routine, from there, we planned to announce it,)” she added.
She also said that the timing of her pregnancy couldn’t have been more perfect.
“Tamang-tama lang ang panahon na nabuntis ako (It is really the right time that I got pregnant) because Zion is already four, and actually araw-araw na niya akong kinukulit na (he would always ask me everyday,) ‘Mama, I want a brother! I want a sister!”
She added that the gender of their second child is yet to be confirmed, though Richard is hoping for a baby girl.
“Basta healthy na baby, okay na ako at masaya na. Siyempre gusto nila Chard kung puwede ay magka-babae ako. That would be wonderful kasi kumpleto na kami as a family pero let’s see. (As long as the baby is healthy, then I am fine and happy. Of course, Chard and others wanted me to have a girl. That would be wonderful now that we will be complete as a family, but let’s see,)” Sarah added.
The Filipino-Swiss actress also talked about her experience so far as a second-time expectant mom.
“Physically ay medyo mas mahirap ngayon pero mentally mas madali kasi alam ko na kung ano i-expect ko sa changes ng body ko. (Physically, it is more challenging, yet mentally it’s much easier since I already know what to expect on the changes of my body,)” Sarah shared.
“With Zion kasi napakamaselan ko. Hindi ako makalabas ng kuwarto kasi kaunting amoy lang ng ganito, I need to go to the toilet pero ngayon mas nadadalian na ako. ([My pregnancy] with Zion is delicate. I can’t go out of my room since even with the slightest scent of this or that, I need to go the toilet but now I am at ease,)” she said.
She also laughingly shared that she is currently craving for corn soup and dimsum.
The engagement of Sarah and Richard took place in Switzerland, where the bride-to-be grew up. The couple announced it just last July. Sarah is expected to give birth in April 2018.
