RAQUEL Pempengco is planning to sue her son, Jake Zyrus (formerly known as Charice) and the ABS-CBN drama anthology, “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK)” for allegedly “defaming” her on its August 26 episode entitled “Jumper”.
The MMK episode, where Jake played as himself, narrated how his mother, Raquel, played by award-winning veteran actress Dina Bonnevie, forced and would inflict hurtful words upon him to join singing competitions when he was younger. Jake also shared how his mother spent all the money he sent when he was actively performing in the U.S.
Raquel denied Jake’s story and called him a liar.
(Let them know that I’m thinking of filing a libel case [MMK] for showing my story without my permission. My complaint includes my daughter Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco),” Raquel said in a message to Pep.ph.
Raquel said that she will file a libel case.
(My reputation as a person and as a mother was tarnished. It’s not just the Philippines who knew, but the whole world. Charice should’ve just killed me. A lot of people could attest that the story they told was not true),” she added.
Meanwhile, Raquel’s mother, Thess Pineda, said she supports Jake’s version of the story and attested that all of it was true. Jake has yet to give his comments about the issue.
