Philippine divas meet Los Angeles fans ahead of awaited fundraising concert

FANS of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and Pinoy comedy got the chance to meet and eat with Philippine divas Kuh Ledesma and Zsa Zsa Padilla, and comedians Mitch Valdes and Nanette Inventor in Pasadena, California on Thursday, November 9.

The meet-and-greet dinner came ahead of the divas’ much anticipated Diva2Diva 2 fundraising concert which is set to take place on Saturday, November 11 at PazNaz in Pasadena.

“We just want to say thank you,” said Philippine ‘Pop Diva’ Kuh Ledesma to the attendees.  “We’re so grateful you’re coming again to our show.  We promise you a very entertaining show.”

With an illustrious career that includes being the first Filipino artist to receive a Salem Music Award in London, and a performance at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York, Ledesma was welcomed by attendees at the Living Rock Church venue looking to get her autograph and take some photos.

The born-again Christian singer, actress, and painter has long been open about religion and faith, and has many times cited God as an inspiration for her work.

The upcoming concert is organized by the JIR Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing financial support to Christian workers all over the world who do not have sufficient financial resources to support their families.

In 2015, Ledesma performed at another fundraising concert for the organization with her daughter Isabella Gonzalez.  The two also shared personal testimonies on their faith.

In the week following the concert, Ledesma will be leading a Bible study.

Philippine ‘Divine Diva’ Zsa Zsa Padilla — who has recently been spending much of her time acting in drama shows like “Wildflower” and the recently released film “Bes and the Beshies” — also took the time to take photos with lined-up fans.

Despite being on vocal rest, the popular singer documented the night’s occasion on her Instagram story and expressed a few words of thanks.

“Thank you very much for your warm hospitality.  I really feel so uplifted today,” said Padilla.

“Still praying and hoping for my voice to come back, but we are so blessed to have you all here this evening.  Very, very excited to perform for you this Saturday,” she added.

Being two of the biggest pop queens of the Philippines, Ledesma and Padilla have performed together many times before.  Prior to their arrival in the U.S., the two reunited on the ASAP stage in the Philippines for a duet cover of hit Barbra Streisand song “Evergreen”.  Saturday’s upcoming concert comes nine years after the two made a their joint album appropriately called Diva2Diva in November 2003.

The diva gathering was only made better with the presence of Philippine divas of comedy, Mitch Valdez and Nanette Inventor.

“Don’t believe what you see on television.  I’m a good person,” said Valdes jokingly.  The singer-comedienne-actress currently plays the contravida-esque character of Kapitana Gina Magtanggol in the current hit teleserye “Ang Probinsyano”.

“A heartfelt thanks should be said to all your warm reception for us,” she added.

Known for her ridiculously affluent character Doña Buding, and her ability to do parodized personalities like Nanette Nafoolish (Janet Lim-Napoles) and Vagigi Reyes (Gigi Reyes), comedienne and actress Nanette Inventor came to the meet-and-greet as herself — a talented artist and devout Christian.

“Believe me when I say our gifts of entertainment, we will be sharing on Saturday.  Siguradong mag eenjoy po kayo (We’re sure you will enjoy),” said Inventor.

“Hindi niyo po makakalimutan na ang ginagawa po nating ito (You cannot forget why we are doing this) — it’s because we’re serving the Lord and we’re serving our neighbors,” she added.
