YOU are a multi-dimensional being made up of different factors from your background, intelligence, parents, genes, childhood, to the environment you live in. Because you are multi-faceted, so are your problems. There is generally not one single solution to your problems, so it is important to delve deeper into them to find true solutions.
For example, if your business is not going well, there can be many reasons for it. The reasons can be anything from the economy, quality of your service or product, your marketing, to your business location. Sometimes it is not any of these, but the wrong timing or your incompatibility with your field or business partner. The point is to be able to identify the problematic factors so that you can fix them. Without awareness, you risk putting your energies toward fixing the wrong factor and end up wasting resources that do not solve the problem.
My father, Grand Master Chi Jen Liu’s life long experience has led him to identify over 130 factors that influence your success in life. He has coined this as Grand View Feng Shui. This all-encompassing perspective is a powerful tool that allows you to see into all dimensions of life. When you take a Grand View look at your situation, whether it be your relationships, health, business, or finances, you will be able to identify the areas where improvement is needed, thereby creating the opportunity to make positive changes.
In this next series of articles, I will apply the Grand View concept to business so you can begin to see everything that impacts your career and identify areas to improve. Your personal, global, and cosmic energies are constantly changing so you need to adjust both your personal energy and your feng shui every year. Just because you or your business does well one year does not automatically mean you will do well next year. An experienced master will be able to tell you how annual and twenty-year period energies support or defeat you, and then recommend appropriate adjustments to keep your energy stable year after year.
Based on the Five Element Theory, everything is made of energy and can be categorized into the energy phases of wood, metal, earth, fire, and water. Therefore, everything around you, from numbers, colors, shapes, time periods to landforms can be associated with one of these five elements.
The current twenty-year cycle is known as Period 8 and is associated with earth energy. Let’s say your business is print publishing, which is predominantly wood energy. You may find that in general, during Period 8, the print publishing business will be more challenged because its wood energy (paper production) depletes the earth. The cost of paper is getting too expensive for many print businesses to thrive. Wood also relates to cycles 3 and 4, which are out of cycle, meaning printed media is no longer the trend.
The energy of water is typically used in feng shui to modify "out of cycle" energies. Water also promotes wood, so using the water element is an appropriate adjustment to strengthen the wood energy of your business. This is not limited to the literal adding of water by placing a fountain in your office. Water can also be integrated through its associations. For instance, water is related to entertainment, transportation, shipping, advanced technology, spirituality, and sex. The publishing companies that are able to incorporate these aspects will tend to do better. As it is, publishing companies that are using new technology by going online, creating electronic books, print on demand, as well as publishing an array of books on spirituality, are thriving.
Bear in mind that each annual cycle also carries its own energy. You may find in certain annual cycles, wood energies are supported and this translates to a year where your publishing business does better. You can see how complex the system is. This complexity is why you cannot rely solely on a book when applying feng shui. You must find a master with a Grand View approach to ensure that all factors are being considered when creating a successful business.
