The event, as announced by coordinator Nelsie T. Parrado and Consul General Cecilia B. Rebong , will support two major projects, namely, the “Handang Tumulong” Disaster Relief Fund, and the much-anticipated Census 2010. The first project is a readiness project to create a seed fund for the victims of recurrent calamities in the Philippines, while the second is to create awareness and encourage Filipinos to be counted in the upcoming 2010 Census of the United States.
The 3-mile walkathon will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 9 AM in Jersey City. It will start and end at the Jersey City Hall located at 280 Grove St. Registration begins at 8 AM and will cost each walker a $25 registration fee. To participate, each walker is encouraged to solicit pledges at $10 per mile per donor. Fil-American organizations in the tri-state area are invited to participate and be a part of this historic event. Registration fee and pledge/donation checks are payable to FAAFL, Inc. accompanied by an application form and mailed to: P.O. Box 1362, Fairlawn, NJ 07410.

Deadline for remittance of all donations is October 5th. All donations will be coursed through FAAFL, Inc., a 501-c3 organization, with appropriate receipts issued to donors for the purpose of declaring income tax.
