| Bryanboy’s road to fashion (blog) stardom |

I’LL be the first to admit that I’m not the best person to write about fashion. Don’t get me wrong though, as I would still be able to know a number of designers, but my fashion statement can be described only in two words—cheap and comfortable.
But I still try to own a number of fashionable pieces (all from the sale/clearance rack, of course), and go around shops in the city just to see what’s the latest in fashion. Yet this piece is not about designers and their (at times) ridiculously priced pieces, but more about one of those people who actually talk about their creations—Bryanboy.
My first encounter with Bryanboy was a mix of a personal accident. Personal, because I was doing some window shopping at one of my favorite shops, H&M in San Francisco and by accident because I only found out about him because a person in the store handed me a copy of their house magazine.
I was just actually waiting for someone so I was just flipping through the pages when I came across a section that caught my eye. It read, "Hottest Styleblogger, Bryanboy—The first styleblogger ever to have a Marc Jacobs bag named after him, Bryanboy is a 22-year-old Filipino –and the biggest thing in Asia."
The title being the hottest styleblogger didn’t mean too much to me, but having a Marc Jacobs bag named after you? Well, then definitely, this Bryanboy deserves more than a small mention in H&M’s magazine.
More than a blogger—but a fashion (blog) icon
Bryanboy was a former web developer who started blogging at the age of 17 from his parents’ home in Manila. His site, www.bryanboy.com, attracts 180,000 visitors per day and has won the 2007 Philippine Blog Award for Best Fashion & Lifestyle Blog.
His blog has also attracted the attention of many in the fashion industry. In fact, The New York Post named him one of the nine hottest Internet celebrities. Bryanboy has not only been mentioned, but also featured in more than a dozen international fashion magazines, publications and fashion blog and websites, including Teen Vogue, the South China Morning Post (Post Magazine), Milk Magazine and Jet Magazine in Hong Kong, Style Magazine in Singapore, The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age (Melbourne) and Sun Herald.
But the piece de resistance to his popularity is of course, having the popular Marc Jacobs name one of his bag designs after him—the BB ostrich bag.
